I would just like to say that I have done a complete 180 on my position with Sam for this Season. I hated it when they were dancing around the issue, but now that they are finally-- FINALLY-- diving headlong into the specifics of Robo!Sam and the ramifications of him being the way he is, I find myself just... completely fascinated.
By Sam, if nothing else, because the other plots are still kind of 'eh' for me.
But still! They teased us with the possibility of Sam going dark or 'changing' for years, and now it's finally happened... except he hasn't gone dark or light. He's gone transparent, which is, in some ways, even worse.
Setting the piece from his point of view was a brilliant move. The simple detachment he feels from everything, caring about Adam only insofar as not caring causes Adam to become an inconvenience and a time sink. Even the title and the sentence it leaps from gives a feeling of detachment- of a world viewed through plastic wrap, seen but not touched, not really. Poor Adam just suffers and snipes and snarks, and poor Dean just hurts and drinks and occasionally ponders how ridiculous his life is (because it is). And poor Sam just... is.
*squeeze*
Good fill. I am very much fulfilled. Though, like Adam, I will probably just be hungry again in a couple of hours. Nothing bad on you-- I just have a voracious appetite for fic. ;) Thanks a ton!
