Five Times Bruce Forgot His Name

Slashified in parts. Canonised in others. Variety, ftw.

1) By the time they threw him behind bars in China, Bruce had more aliases than they had staff over three provinces. The day Ra's al Ghul stepped into his isolation cell it was a physical shock to hear his true name for the first time in years. (Batman Begins)

2) Light bombards his vision in blinding rivers, the noise of the world crushing in around him and Bruce writhes on the backseat in delirium and agony as Alfred steers the Rolls closer to Wayne Mansion. The poison, it's in his blood and the bats are swarming in his vision. Bruce gags against the bile rising in his throat when the noise rises to fever pitch and amongst the bedlam he can hear Alfred's shout of... something - something, and then the world goes white. (Batman Begins)

3) Batman's been patrolling for five days and nights when Lucius Fox eventually runs out of excuses for Bruce Wayne to stay out of the office and Bruce drags himself in for a Friday morning board meeting. Shareholders, bah. Bruce doesn't consider the benefits of being Batman in moderation until he realises he was the one Lucius addressed with "Morning, Bruce!" when he walked in ten minutes earlier. (Batman Begins)

4) Selena, Selena, Selena.... Her wild hair, bright blue eyes and beguiling smile brought the dumbest grin to his face and for a moment he forgot it was Batman, not Bruce Wayne, who had saved her from that clown with the taser. "Oh, I'm sorry. You know what? I mistook me for someone else; sorry." Wait, that didn't sound right.... (Batman Returns)

5) "Bruce? Bruce.... ?"

Bruce startled from sleep and rolled away from the offending source of noise in his bed. Pulling the sheet over his head, he buried himself under the pillow with a tired, mindless groan.

"Bruce," the voice crooned, deep and calming and Bruce sleepily wondered if they were talking to him. He felt the bed depress as the person shifted closer and a strong, warm hand stroked his side under the blanket.

Bruce smiled despite himself and stifled a yawn, slowly rolling onto his back as the unmistakable heat of Clark settled against him. "Ah, you are talking to me."

He tucked himself closer and feeling Clark tremble beside him, Bruce cracked an eye open. Clark looked far too awake, blue eyes glittering in mirth, his lips pinched as he stifled his smile. Impossible. Bruce resolutely closed his eyes again and ignored him. (Batman Begins)
