THREE SENTENCE AU MEME
Give me pairings (or characters). Give me an AU setting. I will write you a three-sentence fic.

I will also finally be responding to comments and getting down to work on the draft of xmenbigbang this morning. I have a week (and a clear outline, thankfully). Stranger miracles have happened. ;P

The story will follow the Brotherhood after the end of X-Men: First Class with background Charles/Erik, Erik/Raven, Azazel/Riptide, and Alex/Hank/Sean, but they're incidental to the story.

What are people's opinions on listing background character relationships when the movement is primarily gen?

“Cas, there’s more than one type of alien out there and they’re not all trying to destroy the planet or get in your pants,” Gabriel murmurs, but his partner ignores him, punishing the keyboard before shoving the passport back at their latest customer.

“Welcome to Earth, Mister Winchester,” Castiel says, perfectly polite, and Gabriel sees the way Winchester’s antennae twitch with interest when Gabriel spins and pockets his sidearm; a habit of boredom, but Winchester is watching him and Gabriel has made no secret of watching him, either, since Castiel yanked Gabriel back by his jacket with a glare after Gabriel’s suggestion he was going to lunch.

“Nice meeting you, Cas… Gabriel,” the alien says with a warm smile, and by the time he slings his bag over his shoulder, shooting a wink in farewell, Gabriel is smiling back; sometimes the immigrants did notice Gabriel’s fine specimen of a boyfriend and partner, and when the aliens were as hot as Dean Winchester, Gabriel was inclined to let them look (as long as it took for Castiel to sink his hands in Gabriel’s hair and pull him back to attention).

I never get tired of reading about Gabriel, since he's always such an insouciant, lovable bastard, every universe he's in. ♥

Thanks, darling! I think alien!Dean and Gabriel would get along (maybe too) well and half the fun would be learning that some aliens weren't so different from them as humans. And Cas getting caught in the middle, as though that wouldn't be funny? :D

You hit the nail on the head: as long as Gabriel still has those qualities, he'll work in any 'verse -- unless the purpose was a mirror!verse, of course, then maybe he'd be something more like Gabriel in Constantine or The Prophecy.

I'm glad you liked it, lovely! I enjoy the idea that Castiel would be possessive, stuck between Dean and Gabriel; I'm sure he'd quickly learn to enjoy it and extend his claim to Dean, too. ;]
