So, at home sick and joint-sore, but lo! There be a free laptop on the dining table!

[attacks]

While my head's not hurting I thought I'd compile some small fandom fic rec for the film "The Rundown" known alternatively here as "Welcome to the Jungle". One of the funniest action films (yet still fails to overtake the geekspasmic joy that is "Hot Fuzz") there are, here is a film summary from [livejournal.com profile] jadetiger_recs:

The Rock plays Beck, an enforcer who'd much rather be listening to Emeril while serving up creations in his own dream kitchen, but alas, is stuck beating up men twice his size due to the dirt the boss has on him. The boss, however, offers him an out after one last job: retrieve his wayward son, Travis (Sean William Scott). Which is how Beck ends up on the jungle adventure from hell, trying to figure out whether to kill or kiss save Travis while evading horny monkeys, angry rebels, and, oh yeah, Christopher Walken as the baddy.

As [livejournal.com profile] stillane said, think of it as Romancing the Stone, only with two guys. (Before you get your hopes up, the movie doesn't actually go there. But it's got all the right tropes to make you wonder why it doesn't.)

And on that note of frustration, here are some recs:

Settle (Travis/Beck, R) by [livejournal.com profile] stillane
Summary: Set'tle v. To pay (a debt); to establish residence in, colonize; to discontinue moving and come to rest in one place; to restore calmness or comfort to.
Why this must be read: Because I love stories with dictionary defintion summaries, I love her style. [livejournal.com profile] stillane nails their characterisation with a tale that easily flows on from the movie's epilogue, making it a joy to read. If you're going to try one story for this fandom, this is the one you must read.

Transitionaly (Travis/Beck, PG) by [livejournal.com profile] strifechaos
Summary: The Easy Way or The Hard Way.
Why this must be read: Because any time Travis gets indignant is never not funny. Set right after the film's closing scene.

There was this other story found a few years back that was short, hilarious and now I can't find it!

This post may be subject to update as other gems are recovered.
