I agree with that. It's a case of only they know what being a vessel was like, at least for those archangels. (And yeah, I think the John angle is a bit of fishing. Sadly.)
We can agree on that, and I went and rewatched Raphael in his first appearance again (in the fire ring speaking to Cas n Dean) and I am convinced that he's on Heaven's side, at least in that he wants the Apocalypse to go through and he wants Michael to win. (But if you get a chance to watch that and come up with something entirely different, I want to hear your thoughts.)
