THREE SENTENCE AU MEME
Give me pairings (or characters). Give me an AU setting. I will write you a three-sentence fic.

I will also finally be responding to comments and getting down to work on the draft of xmenbigbang this morning. I have a week (and a clear outline, thankfully). Stranger miracles have happened. ;P

The story will follow the Brotherhood after the end of X-Men: First Class with background Charles/Erik, Erik/Raven, Azazel/Riptide, and Alex/Hank/Sean, but they're incidental to the story.

What are people's opinions on listing background character relationships when the movement is primarily gen?

YOU. I thought I'd knocked off all my ficlets for the night AND THEN THERE WAS YOU. ♥ Honestly, I'm not sure that this X-Men Big Bang is going to go ahead with everything else on my plate in RL, but I'm going to progress with the current expectation that it will ('til I'm proven otherwise). ^^

Also, sorry if this ficlet isn't very coherent. You caught me at almost 4am. ^^;

Adam has been thinking about it for months, considering the options for weeks, but he never got to the actual planning for how he would ask Dean’s professional partner in crime to his prom (his high school prom – Sam and Dean would never let him live it down), so Adam's five beers in at dinner – he may have gulped down the first three when nobody was looking, just so his hands would stop shaking – and Michael’s on his way to watch the football in the den when Adam accidentally lets the question slip.

Michael stares at him for a long moment from the doorway and Adam’s stomach churns through the bitter alcohol, chest tight, as he watches Michael’s slow frown melt into an incredulous laugh, “What did you say?”

“Go to prom with me,” Adam says, not even an invitation anymore, because he doesn’t trust his voice to lift with the right question at the end, but when Michael shrugs, “Sure,” and wanders off to the source of the game echoing down the hall, it isn’t relief that curls through Adam’s air, because he doesn’t think Michael understood, Michael probably just thought Adam was making a drunken joke, another in a long line of things said only to make his family and friends smile, but none of those things mattered, not like Michael who gave Adam tunnel vision no matter who else was in the room, and Adam can’t even recite Michael’s badge number as he used to every time he needed to remember how to breathe – his gut clenches, he bolts, and makes it to the bathroom just in time to shut the door behind him to muffle the noise of him giving up his dinner.

Oh, poor Adam! I think you so perfectly capture his feelings of unrequited love, the bitterness, the dejection, and the moment where Michael agreed, then walked off, was so heartbreaking, because Adam understood the magnitude of that casual reply more than he might an outright no, since it can easily be reflected against his own passionate feelings.

Poor baby, at least you did get a prom date who managed to worm into your Heaven, so it must have been memorable, right? THANKS FOR THE BRILLIANCE, YET AGAIN, MY LOVE! ♥

Thanks, darling! I think alien!Dean and Gabriel would get along (maybe too) well and half the fun would be learning that some aliens weren't so different from them as humans. And Cas getting caught in the middle, as though that wouldn't be funny? :D

You hit the nail on the head: as long as Gabriel still has those qualities, he'll work in any 'verse -- unless the purpose was a mirror!verse, of course, then maybe he'd be something more like Gabriel in Constantine or The Prophecy.

You're very welcome! I'm glad you liked it, I've been trying to imagine Gabriel being serious, but I think he'd just be an amusing lecturer who would bribe his students into paying attention with rewards of sweets through his classes.

I also love the thought of young!Dean at college, possibly hating most of it (until he finds Gabriel's class) and doing his best to ward Sam off all thoughts of college, without realising he only makes it sound more appealing. I love the ways those brothers are set apart.

I would love to see the way Lucifer charms the pants off all the customers, while Gabriel is the good-natured one who'd keep them all laughing and buying, but Raphael would have to be kept as far away from customers, at least until she'd learned how to interact well with others!

Lucifer and Michael are usually the power players, so why not surprise them? I'm not sure who'd be losing the most face if that sex tape ever got out (Adam or Lucifer and Michael?), but it never ends well! Usually. ;D

This would have been one of the excuses for razorplaying!Adam, but for Sam it'd be a mental battle between trying to clear his name, understand his brother, and surviving in the prison's food chain. I think he'd be in denial about being stuck there, as many new inmates are in the beginning. And murderous, overlording MAL trinity? Mmm, delicious.

It occurs to me that this is the second time I've written drunk-with-bad-outcome!Adam/Michael for you (though I get away with giving him alcohol because he was drinking at home), so I promise to cut down on the alcohol, or at least write it with a happier ending next time. ^^;

Adam Milligan is not the modest, well-mannered student Headmaster Joshua said he would be, and Lucifer wonders if the wrong person was transferred into his class, because Adam has been nothing but a back-talking menace since he sidled into Lucifer’s ancient history class a week ago and dropped his bag on the desk beside Jimmy Novak; every time Adam opens his mouth, Lucifer expects to see Dean Winchester when he turns to silence the kid's commentary.

When the red laser light refracts off different surfaces in the classroom that afternoon, it takes Lucifer half a second to stifle his awe at the rosy glow that fills the air, obscuring his lesson on the whiteboard, and he whirls just in time to see Adam pocket the laser pointer in his sleeve with a poorly hidden smile; “Milligan, detention after school today.”

The class rouses with a chorus of whoops and jeers, calling Adam out for finally getting caught, but Adam just sits back in his chair, his smile turning smug and conceited – challenge accepted – and Lucifer has to remind himself that Adam was just another stupid kid, so there was no reason to worry at that look.

Thank you, I'm so glad you loved it! Adam may not initially match his reputation, but he'd be in for a nasty (better?) surprise come detention because, even in this 'verse, Lucifer humours no fools.
