A lot of us write to music, some of us even compile fanmixes, or fic-specific soundtracks to help us through that one piece.
So, pick five fics from your journal -- preferably five that are on your default page right now -- and tell us what song(s) helped you write them. Through friends, you might hear a new tune that could help you, too. <3
01] Castle += How this will end (Ryan/Esposito, PG-13, 1300w)
'How It Ends', Devotchka: So, I first heard this song on the US SYTYCD being performed through contemporary dance. It was moving. Devotchka's music is a bit hit and miss for me, but this song had the hollow ache that helped me write Javier from Ryan's perspective. I hope it worked!
02] Supernatural += When there's no one left to pawn (Lucifer/Adam/Michael, PG-13, 1200w)
'Beat the Devil's Tattoo', Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: This is actually one of my driving songs, but the moment I heard it, I knew it was perfect angel/demon fodder. Look at the title! Read those lyrics! Listen to that sound! HIGHWAY, HERE WE COME!
03] Supernatural += Say After Me (Castiel, Gabriel, Dean; PG-13; 1300w)
'Take On Me', as covered by Anni B Sweet (skip the ad if prompted): This is one of my favourite covers ever and it had the nostalgic innocence to keep me grounded with thoughts of family, siblings and trust. Not to mention I adore ukuleles.
04] Supernatural += Dedition (Michael/Jimmy, Jimmy/Others; PG-13; 600w)
'Drumming', Florence and the Machine: Florence is really conducive to writing angels, it's something about the streaming, endless sound of her music and the range of her voice that can tip from a river bed to the clouds. This song had the consuming, head-spinning sensation that I needed for Jimmy's drunken haze before reeling against Michael.
05] Supernatural += Whole Lotta Love (Pamela/Jo, PG-13, 650w)
'Whole Lotta Love', Led Zeppelin: ZEPPELIN IS KING. This song was already in my head from listening to it repeatedly on the road trip beforehand and when I saw this prompt, I already knew Pamela fancied herself something of a rock star, so this song was the perfect fuel for her and Jo.
