This was originally a response to a friend's own reaction post, then I realised that I could re-apply it here! :D
We're not all going to agree.
We're not all going to share the same reactions or even dwell on the same points, but I hope that, one way or another, you found something to enjoy in the Supernatural season 6 finale.
Because, I sure did -- and in summary:
HELL YES, GODSTIEL. \O/
YOU ARE SUCH A SHINY DIAMOND AND I PUNCHED THE AIR WHEN YOU ASCENDED BECAUSE YOU ARE EPIC AND FABULOUS, SO PLEASE ENJOY IT BEFORE YOUR FRIENDS INEVITABLY DEFUSE AND DRAG YOU DOWN TO REHAB, MMMKAY?
Maybe they'll kill him (but I doubt this). If they do, it'll be with much fanfare and forecasts of manly tears. I'm looking forward to the next slog either way; there were only so many times and ways Sam and Dean could betray each other, so they had to find another resource. Besides, Sam and Dean turned out (mostly) fine. I predict it's much more likely they'll hatch a plan to bring Castiel back down to Earth - literally and metaphysically - and stick him in the panic room to detox like any depowered junkie. Team Free Will is like extremist!Islam: there is no quitting.

ladyknightanka: Every single person in their entire family has made a deal (Sampa, Mary, John, Dean, Sam...), so it's merely a Winchester rite of passage for Cas to do the same. <-- This right here, I agree with absolutely. Stop the hypocrisy, y'all! The angel just asked for a little faith! Maybe if you'd given it, he wouldn't be telling you all to get on your knees for him. (I say this with much tongue in cheek, because there's no way the writers would actually betray the character development like that, and rightly so.)
Why yes, I *am* going to hunt Godstiel fic now and if I can't find what I want, I am writing it myself. XP
This episode was clearly about Castiel's struggle with what he was about to do, so I understand why they didn't dwell too much on Sam's reunification, but I was still disappointed we didn't see more of his hell. I'm certain they're saving the PTSD for next season, though, they won't let such a reservoir of angst slip through the net. Hell!Sam was my favourite (oh, the soft, broken defeat! The woe! <3!), though Robo!Sam was refreshing to see, too. Jared's sideburns were really distracting in those close shots. X3
I really hope that when Adam comes back next season, he kicks everyone down the stairs, because, omg I am tired of the negligence. (Yes, Adam is coming back, it's straight from the horse's mouth.)
Raphael and Balthazar, my sweet, dark angels. I knew it was your time (and my Big Bang is so obviously going AU from the Season 5 finale). I also adored how Crowley was confused with the pronouns for Raphael, thus aligning me w/ canon! \o/! But you were both so pretty in this finale and as soon as Cas called Judas, it was all over, though it makes me lol at the anti-Christ parallels of Cas and Jesus. I'm pretty sure that if I rewatched the episode, I'd find that Castiel asked Dean, and was denied, three times. 6x21 was meh, thank goodness for the tourniquet to Lisa and Ben's storyline (so underused, so underwhelming), but I liked the finale.
Fun times, this was! Please, Sir, can I have some moar? 8D (I know, I know, wait until September, but, aww.)
And for extra funsies, here are two songs that make me think of the Dean/Cas aftermath a lot of people will be considering until September:
» John Legend, 'Rolling in the Deep' (originally by Adele): For the hurt. I think it's surprisingly relevant to Castiel's current god-like state and the way he might have looked back on Dean after the finale. I love the way John Legend sings Adele's track with that strong bluesy quality that still breaks to reveal the pain of his words.
» The Atomic Tom, 'Don't You Want Me?' (originally by The Human League): This is to lighten the mood, though the subject is a little bitter, the rhythm is so fun, upbeat and confusingly victorious that it never fails to put a smile on my face. Although it's not Dean's kind of rock at all, this song always made me think of him and Cas. :P
I know many people have angsted or even been angered by the finale, so if you want a joyous, roflcopter commentary on the episode for a change of pace (that also sums up many of my own thoughts, yay!) in a rolling slideshow of glitterful lulz, go see

Date: 2011-05-24 01:10 am (UTC)This was epic.
I'm sad for Balthazar and Raphael, but it wasn't an unexpected blow and it was much more difficult watching Castiel slowly lose his allies on every side - mostly his own doing though, tbh. He said it himself, he was doing his best in impossible circumstances and had to focus on the end goal for the perceived greater good. Even if it meant lying to everyone, double-crossing the king of the crossroads himself, and his last friends. He was right: he has no 'family' anymore because in his mind everyone betrayed him by walking away and not giving him the benefit of returning the faith.
According to a video interview w/ Gamble, Adam will be seen in S7, so let's see what she does w/ him.
Everyone's going to be such a wreck. I look forward to it. :3

IS ADAM REALLY COMING BACK? OR JUST WISHFUL THINKING ON OUR PARTS, BB?
Aww, thanks for the link, honey! I hope it'll turn some frowns right side up! :D

Date: 2011-05-24 01:18 am (UTC)I know, some people are really complaining, but I've managed not to harsh unconstructively on people's love just because one of *my* favourite characters has been left to rot with archangel psychopaths without more than one mention in the entire season. GAMBLE CONFIRMED HE IS RETURNING HERSELF IN A VID INTERVIEW; there's a link to it in the recent
Come on, guys, at least Cas will still be around AND he's been upgraded. Let us not harsh: you all love the show, so let's take a step back, please. :)
I really did love your post, it made me smile so wide it hurt. <3
