This post is in follow-up to the fifteen characters meme that went up a few days ago. You guys probably have no idea how much your scenarios and accidental pairings made me laugh or ooh at their unintentional awesome.

I mean, Lucifer/Raphael/Caprica!Six? I don't think I would have encountered this notion so soon by myself.

I have to warn you, if you haven't seen what's been aired of Battlestar Galactica or Supernatural to date, there will be spoilers afoot!

The original meme:

1) Make a list of fifteen characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment.

2) Ask your f'list to post questions in the comments. For example: 'One, nine and fifteen are chosen by a prophecy to save the world from four. Do they succeed?' 'Under what circumstances might five and fourteen fall in love?' 'Which character on the list would you most want on your side in a zombie invasion?' 'Write a drabble in which three and eleven fight crime.' (...possibly not technically a question.)

3) After your f'list has asked enough questions, round them up and answer them using the fifteen characters you selected beforehand, then post them.

Can I just say how impressed I was that although I only picked four characters from Battlestar Galactica, you guys managed to hit at least one 99% of the time? Luv luv, guys, luv luv.

I jumped onto my computer to work on my big bang and then saw this video that mishaphappens had linked.

I hadn't even realised, but until I watched it, I had forgotten why I enjoyed Castiel in the first place.

Castiel in this recent season, and the characterisations of much fanfiction, has muted that otherworldliness and grandeur we were first treated to before the archangels came in, before the power vacuum of Hell, the alphas, and finally, Mother (who I'm still struggling to grasp how large of a deal she is after the show went poly-pantheon and paraded deities as casually as a conference of the country club).

This fantastic video reminded me why I wrote stories like The Littlest Hunter. As they say, Castiel is not your grandmama's angel: he's a soldier and he's good at what he does. Even more than watching him kick ass and flex the shadow of his wings, I enjoyed the insight he provided into the larger machine of Heaven by contrast to his brothers and sisters.

I may be among the minority, but I enjoy him more as an angel than the impression of him as a souped-up, humanised ally. So often in fandom we're encouraged to focus on what within him makes him more like his human company, what we have in common, but I have the attention span of a gnat and he starts looking like just another one of the guys after a certain point. I admit that this is entirely my fault, so it's nice when videos like the one below bring me back to the point.

I'm not one for re-watching episodes, but this fanvid of the fictional 'Castiel: The Motion Picture' has made me want to go back and rewatch Seasons 4 and 5 (Uriel! Alastair!). The set-up, the editing, the music is so polished it presents itself like a real film trailer (despite the 4:40 duration), if only that were so.
